Is it me, or do some of those animations look like a bunch of synapses/neurons?

    How do they determine the shape of dark matter though? Just from extrapolation?

    and another thing, does the representation of a hubble cross section in 3D show gallaxies as they would be if a snapshot of a single moment in time of the Universe were taken, or are the time/distance changes represented as we see them now?

  2. Perhaps DM's lumpy for a similar reason - perhaps its structure and spread can be derived?
