What's wrong with charmap? (Sorry Mac fans)
You can be sure it displays as you might intend over the web?It's faster to find than Start->Programs->Accessories etc ?

I've always found charmap handy enough.
Good stuff.
...and, indeed, the Alt-number combinations, like Alt-0146. Or the command-char combos on a Mac. And quite a few of those things work in MS Office - ctrl-` e, for example, and ctrl-, c.
