Never heard of that one before - most references to automata often only mention Tipoo's tiger, or the chess Turk (which of course wan't an automaton). That one is remarkable.
(there used to be a tiny shop in a back street in Montparnass in Paris that dealt solely in automata and mechanical toys - I loved to just look in the window.)
Is it still there? (Preston! HA!) There was a fab model shop near Tooting Bec station, I used to gaze into... If you type Tooting Bec Models into Google you get quite different sites!
