YouTube - Laura sings the "Diva Dance" from the Fifth Element

A nice cover of the non-aria part of this:

  1. Magnificent! If I knew someone who could sing like that, I'd hang out with them just to make them sing like that.

  2. Say what you like, but I'm still glad she doesn't live next door.

  3. Minnie Ripperton, at your heart out!

  4. Well, I wouldn't want to get into an argument with her...

  5. I always thought that bit had been computer anhanced to show what an opera alien would be able to do over and above a human - great to see we really can make that kind of noise.

  6. Yes, I'm sure the original version's been digitally altered, this lady makes a fair fist of it, though!

  7. Your lips are moving, but I can't understand what you're saying.

  8. Bad Lip synch. Worse hair piece. And was that supposed to be some sort of misappropriated Ukrainian rendition of "Oklahoma!"?

  9. "Now I've got Comfortably Numb lodged in my brain!"
    Right where it belongs.

"Bad Lip synch. Worse hair piece."
Shades of Monty Python. I wonder how old that is.

  10. ...Erm, I hope that comment was about the video and not my observation, Paul. After all, I'm not THAT much older than you! ;-)

  11. Yes, yes, the clip. Someone was kind enough to see it for what it is and either save it or find it. It looks like it's from the late 60's or early 70's but being that it's from the Soviet era, it's hard to say.

Now that I think about it, I could say the same thing about me!

  12. Great lyrics.
I wonder what hidden messages there are if you play it backwards?

(I liked the moonwalk at around 1:20, overall, it looked like a Fast Show spoof)

  13. Perhaps the style was the inspiration for Crash Test Dummies' "mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm"
