  1. Let's say that we've been using radio since the days of Tesla/Hertz/Lodge... (oh, alright - just for Andrew) and Marconi. That is about 100 years.

If we assume that another planet could pick up such signals and identify and understand and figure out their origin - then we can say that we could only expect a response from the systems within 50 light years (a send and reply would take 100 years).

My knowledge of such systems is practically nil, but I guess that it means that our assumptions above notwithstanding, the guys in this list aren't likely to have 'little green men'.

  2. Ah, but we only just started using wind turbines - maybe that really just ticked the little green men off...?

  5. I can't believe there's no link to the "sound".

  6. More to the point, who gave them permission to fly balloons with 500 gallons of liquid helium slung underneath?
Imagine that lot coming down from 120000 feet!

Anyway, a loud booming in the Universe?
Easy - teenagers in Citroen Saxos.

  7. I'd have thought "Wind Power Blows" would have been more appropriate?

  8. It seems we might just be a 5Dhologram, and *that* might be the background noise
