Home-wise: What's really annoying is that I don't recall hearing a lot of fuss about Bush failing to his his targets... but I suspect they'll be more "on to" Obama - It's not right, but as he's attempting the incredibly difficult, you can bet there'll be people just waiting for him to face-plant. What'll be interesting (if he does come-a-cropper), will be to see the way he recovers himself and how he gets on with it (as I'm sure he will).
World issues-wise - What's been very interesting over here (on Thurs nights there are a couple of good political shows on the BBC) is that they know just how difficult it'll be to say "No" to Obama, esp. with all the home and World supporters he has -So no-one wants to be the first, even though he'll be asking some tough things of all nations in the coming weeks, months and years. At least this ought to help him
I was appalled by this - in his inauguration, Obama included the innocuous sentence "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers" - echoing the words of Jefferson and other founding fathers, who saw the right to believe in any god or no god at all as fundamental.
Now he is being hounded for that by African-American pastors , who are clearly confused about which nation it is they live in.
Thankfully, this time around we have Obama, not Bush.
I have high hopes, but I suspect even Obama will have a hard time keeping all his promises.
