Pictures That Make No Sense - Explain This Image - A rich source of caption posts
http://explainthisimage.com/ {Some may NSFW - in which case these ought to be definitely SFW but they're based on naugty pictures, as probably not recommended, though - someone else may have posted before?}
I'd like some of these without the "explain" logo. Some are weird and some are… too weird. So if I send one to a friend, they may think I’m endorsing the entire site. I also would like logo-less screen sized images (for various office PCs). So now I’m off to seek the sources. Or to do some logo cropping.
I was surprised to see that we had already captioned several of these photos (at least in the sampling I viewed), some as long as two years ago.
As to the above photo, here's another image where the commercial photographer grievously misunderstood the nature of the assignment he was commissioned to illustrate: "Wildcatting oil drillers begin off-shore operations in the horse latitudes."
I've seen a lot of them before on Fark.com - So the chances are that if you GIS: e.g. 'Horse mask cat sea storm' you'll find a non-bannered copy of the image (of course, you may find something even more strange that way, beware!) alternatively search for the filename(they've hidden that with their own id, rather naughtily, in my view) hang around on Fark
"Why the long face?"

ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I think of that?! Check the explanations (some of them are right - e.g. Benfrost's Bambi)
ReplyDeleteMYSQL down :(
ReplyDeleteIt did that to me a few times... Hit refresh
ReplyDeleteeew. I didn't want to go past the first page.
ReplyDeleteSome of the pages are more "random" (ahem) than others. On the other hand, Charl, I haven't yet seen any amphibians portrayed.
