Good job!

  1. It was a good speech. Feinstein's was, too.

Now it's time to get to work!

  2. Oddly, the 3 things I'll remember from the inauguration will be Obama prompting the prompter (if not a little exitedly!), The Lord Of The Dance, and that poem!
{I wasn't sure about re-lyricing "God save the Queen", but it was OK, I guess} - Is that an anagram?

    Oh, of course, and this

  3. I thought she was going to say something "and I'd like to thank my fourth graders for helping me".

  4. Thanks for providing that link, Andrew. I kept wondering how this Swinger was qualified to be Obama's chief speech writer!

  5. Hey, how about the John Williams ditty?

  6. The music was very nice and the poem very disappointing, I thought.

  7. What, "The Lord of The Dance" variation?

  8. The poem was *awful*.

Damn shame about Kennedy. At least he made it through the inauguration.

  10. {Should have been a response to Phoenix's question - What about William's ditty?}
From 1:33 it's Lord of the Dance (or at least, a variation, there of.)

[edit: Ah, well I didn't know that... ]

  11. To be honest, I was in a different room - The poem sounded good - It brought people together (not that they needed much help, mind)

  13. I've not seen LOTD, so it's new to me! J.W. rocks and you couldn't ask for a better kit to perform it.

  14. Some of us had to work so, while I convinced the boss to let me stream the inauguration, I had to kill it after Obama's speech. I've heard about the poem, but not heard it myself. I guess I didn't miss anything.

  16. That's a pretty funny change, all things considered.

  17. BTW - BBC 3 8PM Inauguration - The Out takes (followed at 2030 by "War of the Worlds" - make of that what you will)

  18. 2030, huh? So... twenty one years before the aliens arrive. We've got time.

Was most amused by this sub-headline:
Young aide studied past inaugural orations

Or to put it another way,
Young Man Tackles Assignment Conscientiously, Avoids Seriously Massive Embarrassment.

  19. It's a pretty old song - 1832 or thereabouts

  20. It's recently been covered on the BBC, which said it was first performed in Drury lane in 1745

(BTW The BBC as has been covering your "Italian Job" post recently)
